This sharpening rod is made of aluminum oxide ceramic. The combination of the hardness of the whetstone with the shape of the conventional sharpening steel. The ceramic sharpening rod achieves a material abrasion on the blade, whereby it is sharpened and reshaped at the cutting edge. The sharpening rod is not coated. Consists of solid ceramic and wears out almost not during sharpening.

Sharpening rod does not need to be watered before use.
